South Beach

The South Beach Diet is one of the most famous diets in the world. It was originally designed for patients who had heart issues but it was quickly found out to be great for weight loss. The diet has 3 phrases, similar to the Sonoma Diet. In Phase I, your carb intake is drastically reduced. This is to help your body detox from carbs. It is a little extreme but the good news is that it lasts for only 2 weeks. The next phase of the diet, carbs are reintroduced and you stay on this phrase until you have completely lost excess weight. Phase 3 is a maintenance phrase and is meant to last a lifetime. I’ve personally tried the South Beach several times and I did lose a few pounds on it. It is similar to the Sonoma diet in that you have to be willing to cook your meals on a regular basis. They do have a great alternative now. You can buy South Beach frozen entrees at the grocery store and these are great for taking to work with you to work or giving you a free night off of cooking dinner. The only thing I didn’t really like about South Beach was the combination of foods didn’t really agree with my taste. For example, the ricotta cheese with vanilla extract for dessert. That still makes my stomach roll when I think about it! But overall, I do like this diet but I have just found over diets that work better for me.
